IBA 3-Indolebutyric acid is an endogeous indole plant hormone which exists universally in plants, belonging to the indole compound.
Physical properties
The pure product is colourless to pale yellow crystal, the melting point is 122-124°C. It's soluble in alcohol, acetone, ethoxyethane; moisture in light and wet air; very stable in neutral, acidic and akaline medium.
Mode of action
It's a kind of plant growth regulator which acts on cell division and cell elongation in plants.
Application
To stimulate rooting of herbaceous and woody ornamentals;
To make some transplanted crops root early and root more;
To promote root elongation growth and root lignification of flowers ( for example: jasmine, begonia, camellia, etc);
To promote fruit set of vegetables and fruits by soaking the branches ( for example: tomato, cucumber, fig, strawberry, raspberry, etc);
It would get better effect when used together with other rooting reagent.
Storage
IBA need to be stored in a cool, dry place, in case of causing decomposition in light.
